A 2 hour experience for both beginners and regular Nia students.
Attending a Nia routine immersion offers everybody a wonderful opportunity to LEARN some of the key kata's (movements and movement sequences) of a new Nia body of work. If we spend the time to learn new moves, then our nervous system shifts from a heightened state to one of greater ease and relaxation more quickly. When we are relaxed in body and mind, we can adapt quicker when layers are introduced.... eg layers of music, additional movements, tempo and complexity. Sign up to learn this beautiful and powerful Nia body of work - CONNECTING. The FOCUS is to connect via the voice of the body; sensation. The INTENT is to use breath, touch, voice and eyes to deepen body connection to the felt sense of interconnectedness with inner space, outer space, community. |
A 2 hour experience for beginners introducing you to all things Nia. The first hour is mainly passive, where you'll receive the following from Alison, supported by the visuals of a powerpoint presentation:

A soundscape of Nia music will offer inspiration as you learn the names of the moves, how to move them to suit Your Body's Way, and how to tweak them with the sensation of pleasure as your guide. After a short break we'll head into the second hour; a Nia MoveIT class where we may be joined by some of the regulars. This class will include ALL 52 moves of Nia; base, core and upper extremities. |
