Intro to Nia + Routine Immersion
LEARN & DANCE the new Term 1 Nia routine: ALCHEMY

SUNDAY 12 JANUARY, 10am - 12noon

The Studio, 207 High Street, Lower Hutt
Picture
This workshop kicks off with a 30 min Intro to Nia session supported by slides where participants learn Nia fundamentals. This beginning part is tailored for new to Nia's. This is followed by a 30 min somatic session where we move and adapt some key kata's (movement sequences) from the new routine. The second hour we energize with the classic Nia workout ALCHEMY.

When we spend time to learn new movement patterns, our nervous system shifts from a heightened state to one of greater ease and relaxation more quickly. When we are relaxed in body and mind, we can adapt quicker when layers are introduced.... eg layers of music, additional movements, tempo and complexity.

The FOCUS of the routine ALCHEMY is breath.
The INTENT is to use breath to alchemise music and movement into a deeply meaningful and personal movement experience.
